{local love} a lazy day in lyons

this weekend we spent an afternoon in lyons, a little town in the shadow of longs peak that's known as the "double gateway to the rockies.
small as lyons may be, there's plenty to do - from art and music festivals to hiking and whitewater kayaking {but this time we were in it for the main street antique shops and the beer!}.

our friends kim and tj are in the process of adopting a beautiful baby girl from ethiopia! they could be bringing her home at any moment, so they need to get their space ready for her arrival.


kim & tj's style notes:

• space efficiency is a MUST because they live in a one-bedroom house
• they will be sharing that one bedroom with the baby, so pieces and colors that are baby friendly but not adult hostile are preferred
• color scheme is grey and muted yellow
• they don't have a closet, so they'll need organization and storage for everyone!
• not really fans of kitsch, but do have lots of wall space

{local love} boulder outdoor cinema

last night i took A on a surprise date: a movie under the stars at the boulder outdoor cinema! last night's show was o brother where art thou {one of A's favoritest movies of all time}. before the movie we were treated to live bluegrass music from a local band; then, when it got dark, we settled in with our freshly-popped popcorn and agave soda and even saw a couple of shooting stars.

i recently had the great honor of designing a birthday party collection for a sweet little donut-lover i know named ava. 
her mom did an amazing job turning her home into a party-perfect donut palace for the birthday princess!

my good friend carolyn just got a fancy new loft apartment in boulder, and {probably not knowing what she was getting herself into} she asked me to help her with some shopping.  she had already purchased a beautiful cobalt-blue mid century chair, so we went to cb2 and picked out a gorgeous sofa and the perfect lamp. we spent the better part of the day design-dreaming and discussing her style. then i went and designed a living space for her in 20 items or less {below}.

{weekender} a girls' weekend in LA

this weekend one of my oldest and dearest friends surprised me with a girls' trip to LA! it was a quick saturday-sunday expedition, but we made the most of it:
{day 1} lots of beverages and girl talk, an utterly fabulous hotel, a charity event at the beverly wilshire, vegetarian sushi and pretty petite french macarons!

{day 2} delicious coffee, more obsessing over the gorgeousness of the hotel, furniture shopping, a scenic drive and lunch in malibu. i am one very lucky girl!
